David y Garreg and afterwards in one of the houses of
Mr. David in the same row. Some time afterwards the
meetings were held at the old Pengelli schoolroom. During
this time the congregation was a mixed one, consisting of
Baptists, Methodists and Independents. The Methodists
and Independents moved to Mission Rooms of their
own and in 1830 a piece of land was leased by the Bap-
tists for a term of 99 years at a rental sixteen shillings
per annum. In 1832 Soar chapel was built. Meetings
were held only on Sunday afternoons until the church
was formally incorporated on June 4th 1843. The first
minister was the Rev. Robert Edwards.

 

Libanus, Treherbert. Mr. Naunton commenced holding
services here as early as 1826 but no branch church was
formed till 1834. In 1840 a chapel was built on Cwm-
saebren land, then the property of Mr. William Davies.
The land was granted on a lease of 999 years at an an-
nual rental of 5/-. The church was formally incorpor-
ated on the 6th & 7th of December 1848. The ministers who
have served here are the following.
