Primitive Methodists and in 1861 they commenced holding
services in the Long Room of the Bute Hotel, a room which
had been previously used by the Independents and the
Church of England. In 1866 they built a chapel in
Dumfries Street Treherbert, and in the same year
another chapel was built at Ystrad.
Welsh Wesleyans. A cause in connection with the
denomination had been formed at Ystrad about 1858
in a room where the British School was afterwards
held, but owing to the paucity of members and want
of support it was discontinued. In 1866 a cause was
started at Treherbert and a chapel was built in 1868.
About the same time another cause was commenced
at Ferndale and chapel was built in 1867.
